This is supported by our findings of a correlation between TNFR1 or TNFR2 and NF-L levels, and, although we did not find a correlation between TNFR1 or TNFR2 and GFAP, the increase in serum GFAP in ischemic stroke patients compared to controls similarly demonstrates that brain proteins leak to the periphery post-stroke. This evidence concerns the gene GFAP and stroke disorder.
