Flavonoids such as chrysin [308], luteolin [309], and apigenin [310] have exhibited antitumor activity by strongly reducing Nrf2 mRNA through various mechanisms, such as down regulation of the PI3K/Akt pathway, decreasing antioxidant gene expressions, inhibiting proliferation, invasion, and migration of tumor cells, as well as increasing sensitivity to anticancer drugs.
