As these data suggest that EGF is a canonical NRF2 target, we analyzed EGF gene expression in TCGA databases of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC), where NRF2 is constitutively activated in approximately 23% and 13% of cases, respectively, due to mutations in KEAP1 and NFE2L2 [36,37]. The gene discussed is EGF; the disease is lung adenocarcinoma.
