These results are supported by previous reports that suggest fenofibrate improves hepatic steatosis in male NAFLD animal models, such as Otsuka Long-Evans Tokushima fatty rats, low-density lipoprotein receptor-null mice, and choline-deficient HFD-fed mice [8,34,35]; however, clinical studies have reported that fenofibrate did not significantly reduce hepatic steatosis [36,37]. This evidence concerns the gene LDLR and fatty liver disease.
