In animal models the effect of Lactobacillus plantarum and Lactobacillus rhamnosus strains was investigated where the supplementation with Lactobacillus plantarum markedly increased the lifespan of tumor-bearing mice and diminished the CT26 cell growth by enhancing the CD8+ function, Th1-type CD4 + T differentiation, IFN-γ expression and NK cell infiltration compared to Lactobacillus rhamnosus [56].
