IFNA1 and atherosclerosis: As HIV‐1‐infected patients have an enhanced activation of IFN‐I signalling14, 15, 16, 17 and are at elevated risk of developing atherosclerosis,18, 19 we hypothesized that persistent upregulation of IFN‐I and/or IFN‐related pathways might be involved in the development and progression of atherosclerosis during HIV‐1 infection.
