IFNA1 and COVID-19: In CITE-seq and bulk transcriptomic analyses of PBMCs, a strong correlation between the peripheral IFN-α concentration and the ISG responses in PBMCs over time was observed in COVID-19 patients, indicating that SARS-CoV-2 infection induces an early release of IFN-α from the lung followed by a moderate and transient wave of ISG expression in the lung and periphery (Arunachalam et al., 2020).
