Our results are confirmed by observations from a patient cohort in Singapore, which identify an epitope (residues 153 to 170) very similar to Ep9 (residues 152 to 172) and show a correlation between antibody response against the epitope and pneumonia and the tissue damage markers (CRP and lactate dehydrogenase [LDH]) (20). The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is susceptibility to pneumonia measurement.
