Although few studies have reported a definite relationship between total bilirubin and mortality in AP, some studies have found that the albumin-bilirubin score has a high predictive capacity for in-hospital mortality or prognosis in patients with critical diseases such as acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to liver cirrhosis [34], post-operative hepatic carcinoma [35, 36], and AP [37].
