A study with obese rats fed with a high‐fat diet (HFD) for 24 weeks showed an increase in voiding and nonvoiding contractions, suggesting bladder hyperactivity.(Rahman et al., 2007) Obesity is also believed to be the main etiological factor in peripheral tissue insulin resistance (Kahn & Flier, 2000). Here, INS is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
