Metastasis of oral cancer cells is mediated via upregulation of epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition,[268] matrix metalloproteinases,[269] microRNAs,[270] and long non‐coding RNAs.[271] In addition, PI3K/Akt/mTOR,[272] Wnt,[273] STAT3,[274] and TGF‐β[275] contribute to oral cancer proliferation. Here, STAT3 is linked to lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
