IFNG and vitiligo: Zhang et al. found that oral simvastatin was safe to be used in vitiligo; however, their study concluded that the drug might not be effective in the treatment of vitiligo [34]. A case report by Noel et al. described repigmentation in a vitiligo patient by treating with a high dose of simvastatin, the effect of which they attributed to the immunomodulation by inhibition of CD8+ T cells in melanocytes by IFN-γ [35].
