Moreover, we demonstrated that hypermethylation of the CPEB1 promoter region resulted in significantly diminished CEBPB binding of CEBPB to its DNA recognition elements, thereby leading to diminished expression of CPEB1. These results suggest that diminished capacity for CEBPB bindings may be an important mechanism that contributes to decreased CPEB1 expression in CRC.
