In the visual cortex of a rat glaucoma model, the expression of both Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase 4 (NOX4) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) increased, while the expression of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nfr2) decreased, demonstrating that cell signaling pathways that regulate antioxidant capacity are damaged during glaucoma (Hvozda Arana et al., 2020). Here, NOS2 is linked to glaucoma.
