High negative predictive values, even at lower CRP/troponin ratios, represent the other side of the coin, showing that though the vast majority of AMI patients present with low CRP/troponin ratios, there are some myopericarditis patients with lower ratios, simulating a myonecrosis process, which raises the need to exclude active myocardial ischemia in these patients. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is myocardial ischemia.
