While the use of VEGF TKIs (vascular endothelial growth factors – tyrosine kinase inhibitors) had been the cornerstone of treatment for advanced or metastatic renal cell carcinomas (RCC) since the approval of sunitinib and pazopanib [1], it soon got supplanted by the advent of treatment with the use of immune-oncology (IO) drugs.
