We observed independent associations between NAFLD and age (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 1.04; 95% coefficient interval [CI] 1.01–1.05; p = 0.005), male sex (adjusted OR 2.79; 95% CI 1.34–5,83; p = 0.006), values of TNF-α ≥ 20.6 pg/mL (adjusted OR 3.11; 95% CI 1.29–7.63; p = 0.011); BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 (adjusted OR 3.63; 95% CI 1.76–7.49; pa0.001; and HOMA-IR ≥ 2.15 (adjusted OR 6.49; 95% CI 2.56–16.43; p < 0.001). The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
