Regarding autopsy-confirmed confirmed CJD cases, t-tau, but not Nfl, concentrations were significantly higher in CJD MM1/MV1 compared to VV2 cases in agreement with previous data [37], suggesting that despite positive correlations in plasma, Nfl, and t-tau reflect different (or only partially overlapping) pathological features in brain tissue. The gene discussed is NEFL; the disease is Creutzfeldt Jacob disease.
