Fibroblasts extracted from the palmar region (cords and nodules) of patients with Dupuytren’s disease express stress fibres and thus exhibit a myofibroblastic phenotype (Viji Babu et al. 2018) without any mechanical or biochemical stimulation such as TGF-β1 (Pittet et al. 2008). The gene discussed is TGFB1; the disease is Dupuytren Contracture.
