Through inspection of the variable importance summaries (Fig. 4a, b), the following genes were considered for best discrimination of AD from control: SERPINA5, RYBP, SLC38A2, FEM1B, and PYDC1. A logistic regression model was fit to the data to estimate the ability for our top five genes, in concert with age and sex, to discriminate between neuropathologically diagnosed AD cases and controls. This evidence concerns the gene FEM1B and Alzheimer disease.
