HERC2 and ovarian cancer: Recent studies have also found that the members of the NEDD4L subfamily of the HECT E3 ubiquitin ligases—specifically WWP1, SMURF1, and HECW1—as well as the large HECT E3 ubiquitin ligase HERC2, are linked to the pathogenesis of prostate (31), lung (32–34), colon (35–38), breast (39, 40), thyroid (41), gastric (42), liver (43), oral (44), and ovarian cancers (45, 46).
