Yin et al. (2018) reported that miR-155 promotes endothelial cell autophagy by regulating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway, which inhibits inflammation and exerts a preventive role against the development of atherosclerosis. In addition, miR-155 is also involved in the occurrence of epilepsy through PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway (Duan, Chen & Wang, 2018). This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and epilepsy.
