Tau pathology is a well-documented feature of TBI and related conditions such as chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and Alzheimer’s disease (McKee et al., 2013; McKee and Robinson, 2014; Albayram et al., 2016), yet the defined mechanisms by which tau phosphorylation is sustained after an injury have yet to be fully elucidated. Here, MAPT is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
