Overexpression of DUSP16 in cancer cells suppressed chemotherapy drug-mediated cell death, which was associated with inhibition of JNK/p38 activation and BAX-mediated apoptosis (Figs. 2–4 and Supplementary Figs. 2–5), suggesting that DUSP16 regulates BAX-mediated apoptosis in cancer cells in response to the treatment via JNK, p38, or both.
