Mounting evidence indicates that activation of SIRT6 can have beneficial effects in CVDs, including atherosclerosis (Zhang Z. et al., 2016; Wang et al., 2020; Grootaert et al., 2021), cardiac hypertrophy (Sundaresan et al., 2012; Lu et al., 2016; Zhang X. et al., 2016), hypertension (Guo et al., 2019), and heart failure (Li et al., 2017; Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene SIRT6 and heart failure.
