The WWOX gene is related to HOMA‐β,[32] can regulate glucose metabolism[33] and was found to be a susceptibility gene for diabetes.[10] Moreover, according to the results of two‐sample MR analysis, the relationship between leucine/isoleucine and T2D was causal, and the elevated concentration of leucine/isoleucine increased the risk of T2D, which has been mutually confirmed with other published cohort studies.[11] This indicates that these metabolic pathways that produce leucine/isoleucine may contribute to the development of T2D. Here, WWOX is linked to type 2 diabetes mellitus.
