MAPT and Alzheimer disease: Interestingly, the pattern of lysosomal association of acetylated tau in the human AD brains (Fig. 5a) remarkably resembled the one observed in the brains of mice with compromised CMA (Fig. 2b), whereby, the preference for CMA-active lysosomes is lost and acetylated tau redistributed evenly between both subgroups of lysosomes, indirectly suggesting a possible compromise of CMA in these patients.
