G6PD and hepatocellular carcinoma: Actually, a research by R. Benfeitas et al. stratifying HCC patients into G6PD cluster and ALDH2 cluster basing on the differential expression pattern of redox genes demonstrated that G6PD-clustered genes were associated with hypoxic behavior and poor survival compared with ALDH2 cluster, and HIF-1α was part of the G6PD cluster acting as an unfavorable factor 30, this together with our results suggested close link between redox and hypoxia, and the crucial role of such link in tumor progression.
