cSCC has several clinical and biological factors which suggests it is appropriate for the clinical study of inhibition of the Programmed Death-1/Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-1/PD-L1) immune check point: high mutation burden [11] presence of tumour-infiltrating-lymphocytes [11–14], association with immunosuppression as a risk factor [15], evidence of direct immunosuppressive effects of UV radiation [16], and some clinical efficacy with interferon 2α-based treatment [17]. Here, CD274 is linked to skin squamous cell carcinoma.
