Endothelial damage markers such as soluble adhesion molecules [soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), soluble vascular adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1), soluble E-selectin (sE-selectin)], and metalloproteinases [metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)] were found elevated in people with T2DM (20, 21) and also involved in psoriasis (22, 23). This evidence concerns the gene MMP2 and psoriasis.
