Although in 9 newborn from COVID-19 positive mothers were negative (amniotic fluid, cord blood, neonatal throat swab tested), another pathway of transmission in addition to respiration and entry through the mouth and nose, the placental passage of SARS-CoV-2 (Dong et al., 2020) is also discussed in a case report where the nasal swab of the newborn was negative but IgM levels were high and newborn was showing COVID-19 symptoms.
