Taken together, these initial results suggested that the p89 fragment translocation, governed by caspase-3 activity, could be particularly effective in glioma cells irradiated with a high LET carbon ion beam (Perez et al., 2019), in which the DNA damage repair and response (DRR) to double-strand breaks (DSB) is strongly increased (Kesari et al., 2011; Erasimus et al., 2016).
