C5 and hemolytic-uremic syndrome: Approximately half of the women in this study were not treated with eculizumab, many of whom had received a diagnosis prior to the availability of this complement C5 inhibitor in 2011 (during the time period 1985–2010, initial TMA manifestations were reported for 19.6% and 36.2% of women in the p-a-HUS and non-p-aHUS groups, respectively).
