These results corroborate those obtained by Peter et al. in a study of CD95 receptor and ligand involvement in hepatic injury,8 where CD95 receptor expression was very high in hepatocytes in HBV-related cirrhosis.12 These results are also parallel to those obtained in the case of infections with HCV by Hayashi and Mita,14 where the expression of CD95 was upregulated according to the severity of inflammation of the liver.
