A role for miR-146 in CSCs has been described in colorectal cancer, where it promotes a symmetric mode of division through the Snail/miR-146a/β-catenin/Numb axis (Hwang et al., 2014), and in glioma, where it was shown to inhibit neurosphere formation and tumor development by targeting NOTCH1 (Mei et al., 2011). This evidence concerns the gene NOTCH1 and central nervous system cancer.
