We observed a significant upregulation of lipid-mediated proliferative signaling in islets as early as week 4 including G-protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119, receptor for 2-monoacylglycerol), CD36 (membrane transporter for fatty acids), long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase (ACSL), and heparin-binding epidermal growth factor (HB-EGF)-like growth factor (Zarrouki et al., 2014), which was in accordance with hyperlipidemia detected since week 4. This evidence concerns the gene GPR119 and hyperlipidemia.
