KLF6-SV1 overexpression significantly antagonized the ability of wild-type KLF6 (WtKLF6) to up-regulate p21 expression and inhibit cellular proliferation, which eventually led to increased cell proliferation while also significantly raising the risk of prostate cancer in males (Narla et al., 2005a).
