In a mouse model of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), in vivo RNAi screening identified that the circadian rhythm genes (Bmal1 and Clock) are required for AML cell growth, and targeting the circadian machinery showed therapeutic effects by depleting leukemia stem cells and impaired cell proliferation (Puram et al., 2016). The gene discussed is CLOCK; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
