The patients with co-infection had higher median PCT (4.35 [IQR 0.6–19.5] versus 0.6 [IQR 0.2–2.3] ng/mL, p = 0.001) and CRP levels (36.7 [IQR 20.23–118] versus 28.05 [IQR 13.3–109] mg/dL, p = 0.001]) when compared with PVP. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is coinfection.
