Aside new generation antiandrogens, other treatments have been recently implemented such as poly-(ADP-ribose)-polymerase (PARP) inhibitors (PARPis) which proved to increase survival of mCRPC patients bearing defects in DNA repair genes [7] or immunotherapy with sipuleucel-T, consisting of autologous peripheral blood mononuclear cells, incubated ex vivo with a recombinant fusion protein made of prostate acid phosphate (PAP) to elicit an immune response against prostate cancer cells [8]. The gene discussed is PARP1; the disease is prostate carcinoma.
