One example of a species that is altered is Bacteroides acidifaciens, which decreased in HF compared to C. B. acidifaciens has been linked to decreased obesity and to improved insulin sensitivity [38], is more abundant in individuals with high-fiber diets and acetate supplementation, and has been reported to play a role in the regulation of the circadian cycle in the heart [38,39]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
