Most Hippo-YAP/TAZ signaling genes are rarely mutated in liver cancers, which strongly suggests that molecular events, such as epigenetic or post-transcriptional regulation in response to mechanical stresses from the tumor microenvironment, other than DNA mutations, may cause dysregulation of the Hippo-YAP/TAZ signaling pathway in in liver cancers [19,40]. The gene discussed is YAP1; the disease is liver cancer.
