We previously showed that RMG were activated in the course of autoimmune uveitis in horses, resulting in IFN-γ expression and the downregulation of cell-specific proteins such as glutamine-synthetase (GS), aquaporins 5 and 11 and potassium channel Kir4.1, thus playing a detrimental role in disease pathogenesis [19,20,21,22]. This evidence concerns the gene GLUL and autoimmune uveitis.
