Numerous long noncoding RNAs were found to bind to miR-7 and downregulate its activities: LINC00115 and XIST in breast cancer [22,30], LINC00240 in lung cancer [31], RSC1-AS1 in hepatocellular carcinoma, TINCR and Zing Finger Antisense 1 (ZFAS1) in breast and colorectal cancer [32,33,34], LPP-AS2 in glioma cells [35], etc. LncRNA SOX21-AS1 influenced cervical cancer progression by inhibiting miR-7/VDAC1 (voltage-dependent anion channel 1) [36]. The gene discussed is VDAC1; the disease is lung carcinoma.
