As shown in Figure 6D, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) mRNA was significantly upregulated in PCOS rats compared to controls in the renal medulla (4.07 ± 0.11 vs. 3.18 ± 0.18, p < 0.001), and elevated in the renal cortex without reaching significance (1.44 ± 0.19 vs. 1.00 ± 0.10, p = 0.271). The gene discussed is ACE; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
