Although only eight samples among our human HCC samples belonged to the non-B non-C group to which NASH-derived HCC supposedly belongs, the fact that patients with advanced NASH exhibited decreased ERRFI1 expression and increased EGFR expression support the clinical importance of the MIG6–EGFR axis during NASH-induced HCC development. Here, EGFR is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
