Among these emerging pathogens is Granulibacter bethesdensis, non-motile, catalase-positive, and oxidase-negative coccobacillus first described in 2006 [7], which, to date, has only been isolated from human patients with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), a rare primary immunodeficiency caused by deleterious mutations in the phagocyte NADPH oxidase (NOX2). This evidence concerns the gene CYBB and chronic granulomatous disease.
