Our previous results show that inhibition of hypoxia in directionally migrating tumors was more effective only when HIF-1α is inhibited at early stages, and that inhibition of tumor-secreted factors such as soluble E-cadherin (sE-CAD) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) at any timepoint was effective in halting tumor migration [17].
