In NSCLC, TAMs are often broadly and unsatisfactorily defined by the expression of the pan-macrophage marker CD68 [8,9], or are poorly characterised by the single marker expression of M2-like markers such as CD23, CD206, and CD163, which heavily fluctuate with chemical stimuli and environmental influences [6,10]. This evidence concerns the gene CD163 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
