In DS rats, high salt intake activates Rac1-specific GEF Tiam1 and Rac1 sequentially, which are involved in hypertension and the exacerbation of renal damage via MR activation, while DR rats did not show Tiam1 and Rac1 activation, hypertension, and renal injury by high salt intake (Figure 2) [32].
